It was an award-winning week for Suffolk soccer as student-athletes Caleigh O’Brien and James Fisher were honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for outstanding performances.
O’Brien, a freshman forward on the women’s team, was named the conference Corvias Rookie of the Week after scoring two goals—the first pair of her collegiate career—during the Rams’ dramatic 3-2 victory against Regis. She scored to tie the game at 2-2 with 41 seconds remaining in regulation and then netted the game-winning goal in overtime.
Fisher, a sophomore forward on the men’s soccer squad, received GNAC Corvias Player of the Week accolades. He scored two goals within 28 seconds of one another in the Rams’ 3-0 win over Mt. Ida. Both goals were scored on breakaways.
