Attorneys for marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarneav are focused on convincing the jury that he might not deserve the death penalty.

Law Professor Rosanna Cavallaro tells NPR that the relaxed way the defense team interacts with Tsarneav is as important as anything a defense witness might say. Cavallaro notes, “All that subtle nuance of ‘Look, jurors –  we feel comfortable around him. We relate to him like a young man, like other young men that we know. He’s not a scary monster.’”
