Suffolk University’s pressure defense set the tone early, leading to easy baskets as the Ram’s stormed to an impressive 66-25 victory over host Newbury College in Brookline Tuesday improving their record to 14-7.
Junior guard Stephanie Morrissey (Abington, MA/Tabor Academy) led all scorers with 12 points, while sophomore guard Kerry Bowman (Guilford, CT/Guilford) contributed 11 points to the Rams victory. Meghan Tracey (Rehoboth, MA/Saint Raphael Academy) had 8 points on the night and pulled down 10 boards.
The Nighthawks played their hearts out, but were unable to sustain the pressure in the full court. The duo of seniors led the way for the Newbury as Jessie Laliberty (Haverhill, MA/Haverhill) had 9 points on the night, while Taraja Laws (Easton, PA/Easton) yanked down 16 boards respectively. The Nighthawks fall to 0-20 on the season and will travel to Lasell College on Thursday; tip-off is at 7:00.
