The Boston Herald published an essay by Professor Emeritus Michael Avery providing a personal perspective on the emotional impact that a death penalty trial in the Boston Marathon bombing case might have on some survivors. Recounting his own experience as the family member of a victim of a horrific public crime, he argues: "No one can say what the victims and survivors want because they don’t all want the same thing. But for some, a death penalty trial will be hell."  The essay is here: http://www.bostonherald.com/news_opinion/opinion/op_ed/2014/11/as_you_were_sayingspare_bomb_survivors_trial_trauma
