Emily Perlmutter left her mark on nearly every person she met as a mail clerk at Suffolk University. She loved Suffolk and her co-workers, who truly became her friends. Emily was sincerely interested in others and always wanted to brighten their days, whether in the Sawyer Building, Sargent Hall or on Temple Street. In April 2017, Emily passed away too soon, after a long battle with cancer.
To honor Emily’s legacy, employees at the Law School and the Perlmutter family have created The Emily Perlmutter Unsung Hero Award Fund and seek donations to make this fitting and lasting tribute to Emily a reality. The Award will be given annually to a Suffolk University Law School employee who brings the kind of joy and spirit to the Law School community that Emily showed during her lifetime, with the first recipient to be selected in 2017.
The Award recipient will be chosen each year by a panel consisting of a member of Emily Perlmutter’s family, a Suffolk Law faculty member selected by the Law School’s Dean in consultation with Emily Perlmutter’s family, and an administrator or staff member selected by the Law School’s Dean.
The name of the Award’s winner will be added to a plaque that will hang in the Law School, and the recipient of the Award will receive a prize of at least $500.
