Students left urban streets behind and enjoyed a trail ride in La Pedriza Park in La Sierra de Guadarrama, a mountain range northwest of the city of Madrid.

Stepping off the bus from Madrid, the picturesque Sierra de Guadarrama appears as if by magic.

“It looks like a movie set...almost too beautiful to be real,” said one student.

Great biodiversity is a hallmark of the mountainous national park, which is, for the most part, unblemished by human activity.

Students on horseback may catch sight of deer, wild boar, wild cats or foxes, and the Spanish Imperial Eagle soars above the trail.

Horseback riding is a traditional outing for Suffolk Madrid students, one that counts among their favorite activities while in Spain.
